Shelton began his career in the investment industry as an administrative assistant at Oppenheimer & Co. in 1990, joining the Walled Lake team in 1998 and moving with them to RBC Wealth Management in 2003. While at RBC, Shelton was honored with the Irv Weiser Corporate Award for his leadership and dedication to mentoring Chicago’s next generation, recognized for his life-changing influence on young people.
Shelton is committed to serving as a professional and influential role model to the youth of his community, and he has spent 27 years working to empower Chicago’s young people. He serves as Director of Education for the Sigma Beta Club, a program focused on academic achievement and higher education, which has earned widespread media recognition. For his efforts, Shelton was named a Dream Maker by the Bronzeville Children’s Museum. While vacationing in Punta Cana in 2017, Shelton visited a local school, where he empowered students to concentrate on their education and embrace learning. He also previously chaired the community council for Ronald McDonald House Charities in Chicago and serves as a Deacon in his church.
