Howard Klieger, CFP®

Howard Klieger has been advising clients in personal finance and investments for over 43 years. Starting his career as an independent stockbroker, he quickly recognized the need for a more comprehensive approach to client service, which led him to develop a team strategy. Walled Lake Planning is the culmination of 35 years of that development. Today, Howard wears many hats—continuing as the first point of contact for many clients while playing a vital role in expanding service offerings. He sees his role as making Walled Lake a fertile ground for both client and team growth.

Professional & Personal Journey

Howard’s educational background includes a BS in Economics from the State University of New York at Buffalo and an MBA from Emory University. However, his greatest strength comes from his long tenure on Wall Street. As the senior member of the Walled Lake team, Howard offers a valuable macro view of the economy, Wall Street, and asset allocation. He is also the voice of Behavioral Finance for the firm, guiding clients toward successful financial decisions. Howard often reminds clients that he has “retired in proxy hundreds of times,” and draws on that experience to help them navigate their own paths to financial success.

Outside of work, Howard enjoys an active lifestyle. He married his wife, Susan, in 1988, and they have two children, Louis and Alexandra, both of whom are married and have each given Howard a grandchild. He fondly refers to his family as his “kingdom.” An avid tennis, pickleball, and golf player, Howard also serves as a Commissioner for the Chicago Platform Tennis Charities, where he participates as both a player and leader. He and Susan frequently travel, enjoying time with family and exploring new destinations.
